We collect the email address and optional display name you provide when you create an account. We also collect your event favorites and any app preferences you set. If you're an organizer, we collect the event flyers and details you upload, plus the business name, Instagram handle, and contact email you give us when you apply to become an organizer.
Your email is used to authenticate your account and send you transactional messages (like password resets, email confirmations, and — if you apply to become an organizer — the outcome of your application). We never sell your personal information.
We share data with a small number of service providers, only to run the app:
Each provider is bound by its own privacy and data-protection terms; none of them may use your data for their own purposes.
When an organizer uploads an event flyer, the flyer image is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI to automatically extract event details (title, date, venue). Only the image itself is sent — never your name, email, or account information. This applies only to flyers organizers choose to upload, not to anything else in the app.
Event reminders and the weekly digest are scheduled by your own device — they never leave your phone and we don't see them.
Separately, if you're on the WhimWise team, your device registers a push token with Expo's push service, linked to your account in our database, so we can alert you when an organizer applies. It's deleted when you delete your account or uninstall the app.
Location access is requested to center the map on your current position. Location is used only on-device and is never stored or sent to our servers.
Your account data is retained until you delete your account. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Account → Delete Account.
